TO-DAY'S PROCEEDINGS. MR G OLDIE SPEAKING.

Ib was hoped that the House would get into committee last night, and the Opposition were prepared to allow this if an adjournment was made until 2.30 to-day. This Sir H. Atkinson declined, unless the amendments to be proposed in committee were of a reasonable nature ; this would give him an opportunity ot declaring that ho had been misled, bub the city mem bets were not to be had. He said he would adjourn until 10.30 this morning 1 , bub the city party would not listen to this. The action of the Premier incensed a number of the country party who had offered to speak, among others Mr Hobbs, whose otter hns been accepted. Marsden Thompson held out an olive branch yesterday in the shape of a large case of oranges. The House met this morning at 10.30, when, with gieafc geneiobity, the city party allowed Sir John Hall's Church Property Trust Amendment Act, a private Bill, to pass its h"nal stages, although Sir John Hall is one of their arch opponents. When this was done Mr Goldie commenced speaking. Mr Verrall, whose fad is a State bank, was drawn nicely by Mr Perceval and Mr Jl. Fteeves yesterday. They advocated a State bank, and Mr Verrall is jubilant. The country manifesto has now been issued and is considered very weak and ilabulent. "Facts, yes," said one individual, c< they are there, bub only as water." The city party held a dancus this morning, when it was decided to reply to the manifesto in the House, and take proper steps for the press to obtain it.
