A cutter containing 850 tons of lead ore flux from Broken Hill, is now duo at Manakfu, from Port Adelaide ; and a second may be shortly expected. During ths past week a number of men have been engaged in blasting rock, grading, and otheiwise improving the road leading up to the rea'-g of the battery ; in order to fncililnte the carting of the flux, coal, etc, which will be delivered at this pint of the works and fchonce be conveyed direct by tram to the tailings plant, where the smelter has been erected. .Thiity head of the old stampers are working on New Find dirt, five of the new are on old tailings (the accumulation of years), and five are on Colonist dirt. The remaining ton are being; connected, and will probably commence work to-day. The working staff ling been considerably reduced. Where there were recently eleven, carpenters at work there are pow only three, and five o.f the labourers were'dispensed with on Wednesday last; Work atjhe tailing plant has been suspended for a time.
