Dimond is a native of Honolulu, Sandwich Islands, born ot white missionary parents. John K. Moore, attorney for David D. Hancton, of Middletown, New York, has begun a suit in equity against the city and county of San Francisco and a number of' other defendants, claiming a large portiou of the si bo on which the city is built under a grant fiom ilannel Michel torina, a foirncr Governor in California, to one Fernando Marchina. The complaint states that the monthly rental from this property is and tho usual recovciy is prayed. The suit is consideied a huge black-mailing' scheme. Simon Cameron, a leading Republican statesman, United States Senator, Secretary of War under Abraham Lincoln, and subsequently Minister to Kussia, died at his residence, near Harrisburg, Va., June 26 rh. Madison Square Garden, New York, has been engaged for ths International Maritime Exposition to open September 21sb and clo&e on October 26fch. The object is to promote the ocean-carrying trade of the United States.
