IMMIGRATION RETURNS.

The immigration returns for the paat year show that 550 landed in the colony, which were distributed as follows : — Auckland, 381 ; Taranaki, 8 ; Hawke's Bay, 14 ; Wellington, 65 ; Mai-lborough, 3 ; Nelson, 3 ; WestJand, 26 ; Canterbury, 43 ; Otago, 45. All these were under the nominated immigration system. Since the commencement of the scheme until the 30th of April this year, 74,055 have been nominated, and 31,373 have arrived in the colony, of which Otago takes 8,980, Canterbury 8,509, Auckland 5,057, Wellington 4,761, Hawke's Bay 1,603, and the balance among the other districts.
