[ The Artist was the firsb to begin, followed by Marmion, but the latter came to grief at the first fence, where Harry Aulh baulked and Grafton was over second, attended by Shillelagh. The Artist continued his lead over the brushed treble, Grafton and Shillelagh still attending him clear of Wallaby, and then at several lengths intervals followed Peter Osbeck, Artist, Melton, and Turonville, the lastnamed jumping badly. Wallaby changed places with Shillelagh at the posts and rails near the mileposbs, atwhichMolton baulking extingnished his chance. Much the same order was maintained over the fence at the seven furlongs, bub the next one brought down both Wallaby and Shillelagh, and The Artist, who had been running down his fences, refusing near the sheds, only Peber Osbeck, Artist, and Grafton were left with a show, and they were fencing in that order Passing the stand Pebei Osbeck was leading Artist three lengths, Grafton following 10 lengths away third, while a long way off was The Artist, who got over at the second time of asking, and all but the last named were jumping splendidly. From this out the race doesn't require much describing, as Artist fell at the far side, where Turonville refused and Peter Osbeck won easily
by 20 lengths from Graf ton. Artist, who was remounted quickly after his fall, was 10 lengths away third, and The Artist walked in. Time, smin. 59^sec.
