London, July 12. The Committee appointed to inquire into the principle of making grants to Royalty consists of eleven Tories, two Unionists, eight Gladstonians, and two Irish Nationalists. It includes the Hon. Goschen, Lord Hartington, Hon. Chamberlain, lion. Morley, Mr Henry Labouchere, Hon. Gladstone, and Mr C. S. Parnell. The reserve in notes and bullion at the Bank of England is and the percentage ot reserve to liabilities is 39. Major Lecaron, who gave evidence before the Painell Commission, is reported to be missing.
New York, July 11. John L. Sullivan has been arrested for fighting with Kilrain. The latter escaped.
Chicago, July 11. No trace has yet been found of Dr. John McMerney, Bupposcd to have been mardeied by the CUan-na-Gael, Dr. Clarke is also reported to be missin £-
Sydney, July 12. A heavy fall of snow took place in the Upper Murray districts, in the neighbourhood of Kiandra. The snow accumulated in gullies to a depth of twenty feet. Heavy floods are now feared.
