SUPPRESSING CONSULTATIONS IN SYDNEY.
The number of consultations, place and otherwise, on every event possible is said to be coming scandalous in Sydney. Every other tobacconist's shop almost has one. There are some genuine ones, but carrying them on is against the law. The police have made a start to prosecute, and the other day Keith Wilson, a &martlooking young man, was brought before the Central Court under the Betting Houses Suppression Act. He was charged with showing placards outside a tobacconist's shop in George-street, inviting business for con&ultation on the Coronation Handicap at Canterbury Park. He pleaded guilty, and was fined £10 and costs £2 2s.
