THE TOTALISATOR IN QUEENSLAND.

The second reading of the Total isat or Restriction Bill was carried without a division in the Queensland Assembly. The use of the machine is to be restricted to racecouises, and the special object of the Bill is to diminish gambling on the machine in tobacconist shops, and amongst the juvenile element, which has become a crying evil since the introduction oi the totalizator there. It is provided that a heavy penalty shall be imposed on anyone under the age of 21 years who gambles by means of the instrument.
