Caledonian.—Operations in this mine have not lately been attended with such success as could be desired. Sboping is proceeding as usual, the reef being 12 inches in thickness and carrying fair minerals. At No. 2 level driving was started a few days ago on No. 1 reef, whicli from this point is intact to the boundary. There is no change in the other workings.

Lone Hand. — Quartz of good payable grade is still coming to hand from this Company's mine, especially from the stopes in the Lone Hand section. Now that a contract has been let for driving 100 feet at the low level, the work should progress rapidly, as the sandstone is ail that could be desired.

Warden's Court.—A number of applications were dealt with at the Warden's Court yesterday, but the following were fche only ones of Auckland interest: — Thomas Melville, Martha Block licensed holding, Waihi, granted; T. H. Russell, wacer-race, Waihi, granted; A. Hogg, amalgamation of several claims at Puriri, granted j R. McDonald Scott, protection for New Fearnought Co.'s mine, Waiotahi Creek, adjourned 25th inst. The following licensed holdings were on the application of the Mining Inspector, declared forfeited for nonworking :—Hidden Treasure, Mata Creek ; Thames Mineral Exporting Co.'s special claims Nos. 1 and 2, Hape Creek ; Buckland's Freehold Extended, Nos. 1 and 2, Puriri. A similar plaint against the Adeline Amalgamated, Karangahake, was withdrawn.

Caledonian".—lnstiuctions have been received by the manager to commence several new prospecting works in various portions of the mine apart from where operations are now being carried on. At No. 2 level a start has been made to drive on the No, 1 reef, and also to rise upon it and carry along a leading stope. The manager has also commenced driving at the same level upon a body of stone 2 leet thick, near the bottom of the flat winze, and underneath where good gold was obtained by a former manager some years ago. In the event of these works proving payable, it is probable that others will be commenced.

Royal Oak (Coromandel). —During the past week there has been a slight change in the mine. The ground, which has been exceedingly hard, has become better working. There is a large leader in hand at present carrying good indications on both walls, and good looking stone along the floor of the drive. The tributers have finished crushing 1J tons of general stuff and 501b specimens, which gave a return of 370z 3dwt retorted gold. They started to drive south on a small lead crossing the Poverty in No. 2 level to-day; there was a little gold showing in the stone. This lead seems to be the continuation ot No. 2 cross lead.
