She left her husband in 1883 because ocertain letters that she had discovered ad dressed to a lady, but in a week she went back again to her home. Her husband, she alleged, gave her a great quantity of morphia in February, which made her very ill indeed. " He forced it down my throat," she said in reply to questions trom the Justice. "After that he put me into an asylum. The morphia had affected my head." There was some discussion here concerning the date she gave, it not agreeing with the date in the petition. Then she said that the morphia was gi^en her in February, and she was sent to the asylum in March.
