MR D. O'BRIEN'S TEAM.
Mr OBrien (writes " Rata ") is pushing his lot along, and no doubt they will be heard of on the Australian turf next spring. Vandal and Helmsman aro both being kept active, and they will be in tip-top fettle by November, should they stand — which there is every reason to believe ; and Freedom and Hazel, from the work they are doing now, will also be fit early. Neither Vandal nor Helmsman is particularly brilliant ; bub the two-year-old, Freedom, is a pood colt, and Hazel will want a lot of beating over T.Y.C. courses, or I am greatly mistaken. She has every appearance of developing into a rattling good sprinter. Dinkeld is also in good work, and no doubt ho will be heard of at the next V.R.C Spring Mooting, unless the doughty deeds of his late stable companion, Carbine, lump too much weight on him. Hazel, I may mention,- is by Nordenfeldt — Ouida, and Freedom by Captivator — Maid of Honour.
