Native Revenue at Te Aroha.
The nntives of Te Aroha state that they entered into an agreement with the Government in 1880, handing over their lands to the Government to he dealt with under the Goldfiel.is Act, I<i73. This agreement reserved to them all the fees from the miners* rights, timber licenses, kauri trees, residence licenses and business sites licenses. The Government ,hays allocated the moneys from the above fees to the Piako County Council and Te , Aroha Town Board to the extent of £345, This is the amount 't hay claimed in a petition Inst session. The Minister I or Mines on Wednesday last, in reply to Mr W. Kelly, who asked about the petition, stated that Mr Northcroft, Warden at the Thames, and Mr Wilkinson were appointed !a*t March to go into the matter, which they did, and made an award in favour of the natives.
