A short time ago an Auckland resident applied for 109 acres bush land at Wtiifcako" rci. There were several other applicants) and tho Commissioner of Crown Lands recommended thai it bo sold by auction. On the matter bein^ referred to Mr S. Percy Smith, he was of opinion that the land would be required in future for water supply purposes for Auckland city, and being picturesque bush-land, would be of interest to tourists, so he recommended that it be reserved. Tho Government have dopted the recommendation.
