Wellington, July 2. FRISCO SERVICE.
When the 'Frisco service was slightly debated in the House the other day, the Premier stated that he had received certain proposals^ from the Government, of Now South Wales which the Ministry would consider, and which ho would at an early date lay beforo the House. On inquiry, I find that the offer is only a request for New Zealand to join in the contract^ for one year that the New South Wales Government has made, owing to the representations of representative American interests. As showing the bitterness with which the service is viowed by certain members, I may mention that the other day a member rose on the floor of the House and declared that it was a general impression down South that a couple of months back, when the direct mails were so late compared with the there had been a deliberate attempt by interested parties to keep the direct mails from reaching Auckland until late, so as to create an unfavourable impression.
