Profit in Tomatoes.
Tjik Spaniards find the cultivation of tomatoes profitable. Vice-Consul Howard, writing from Oandia, states that the hope he entertained last" year of an increased export of tomatoes was more than realised. He then wrote that eight, steamers had initiated their trade with the United Kingdom ; but last season thirty vessels loaded part cargoes of tomatoes for England, and nearly all did well, some of the lator parcels bearing 100 per cent, profit. The tomatoes are of unsightly appearance, and suited best for culinary purposes ; but next season English seed will be tried in the hope of obtaining produce more fitted for table — that is uncooked purposes. It is anticipated that this year will show a still further development of this trade. .
A heavy fall of snow has taken, place in many of fche southern townshioa of New South Wales.
