LOSS OF THE FIJIAN. MARINE BOARD INQUIRY.
Sydney, June 5. The Marine Board have cited Captain Fielding and Mr Harley, second mate of the wrecked steamer Fijian, to appear on Monday to show cause why their certificates should not be suspended. The Boarcl finds that the wreck was caused by the captain ordering a course which took the vessel towards Tanna Island, where she struck, and Mr Harley was guilty of negligence in allowing the vessel to approach the island too closely. The Board held that no blame was attached to Mr Duder, the first officer.
