Sydney, June 2. In reply to a question as to the appointment of Mr Finch Hatton as delegate to the Conference re the Canadian cable, Sir Henry Parkes said that after the recent dispute between the late Government and the Government of Victoria concerning the object of the meeting, the matter had been allowed to drop. He went on to saythat so far as his Government was concerned no negotiations whatever had taken place, and unless the Imperial Government had received special information on the subject Mr Finch Hatton's appointment was premature.
