S.\,\on. — Tho mine manager reports- : Tlio dii\c along the course of tho No. 1 main reef going east or hilly.aid of crosscut has been exterdod a further distance of 12 feet for the Meek. In the eaily parb the reef was filling 6 feet in thickness, bub has again nairowed up to about 18 inches. But &low progiess is being made. 01 old. is occasionally scon and tuir minerals is distributed through the quartz. Thoro aro also two leading atopes in progress on this reef ; the one on tho west at winze is now nearly forward to the crosscut. Tho other fetope was started 40 feet east ot crosscut, and is being carried along to meet the western &bope. The reef in these stopes vanes from 2 to 4 feet in thickness, while the .sandstone bar in tho centre has to bo shot down and sorted out before sending ho the battery. Gold is frequently been, but little picked stone has been saved for this w eek. The No. 2 reef on No. 5 level at present averages a foot in thickness. Ton feet was broken down during the week, and gold was freely seen through the quartz. A leading stope is in progress on this No. 2 reef on the seaward side of No. 1 break. In tho level the reof was a compact body of quartz from 5 feeb to 6 feeo in thickness, with numerous small veins carrying gold, but in tho stopes it is somewhat split up and is not quite so large going up, still continues to show a little gold. No. 3 level : The ttopo on the No. 1 foobwall leader continues to turn out a fair supply of payable crushing dirt. A few poundsof picked stoneareoccasionally&aved. I am carrying the stopea back to the break, and I feel sure they will improvo as they progress. During the week the Company's battery of 22 stampers has been kept fully employed, and 10 hoad of the Cambria Company's 5 days. ,
