Entertainment at Waiorongomai.

On Thursday evening a concert and farce enteitainment, followed by a dance, took place in Wniorongomai Public Hall, proceeds in aid of tuning ana repairing the organ. The attendance was very largo. The Hall was tastefully decorated for the occasion with evergreens ; sand the soft light from a number of Chinese lantern? occasioned ft very pretty cffet-t. Rer F. G. Evans presided. The following programme was successfully carried out : Overture, selection, Miss Wainwright, and played in that young lady's customary good style ; glee, The Harp ' that once through Tara's Hall, Company, well rendered ; solo, violin, Annie Laurie, Mr Stewai\l ; song, Ora pro Nobis, Miss Wainwright, sung with great taste and spirit,— an f enthusiastic encore being acceded to ; pianoforte duet, Canary quadrilles, Misses Wainwright and Hirst, "deseivedly -applauded ; solo, violin, Moljie Darling, Mr Steward, very well rt-ce^yed ; glee, l)amc Durden, ..Company } sohs, When shall we meet again, Mr J. MeLiver-, very well sung, but was apparently only a preliminary whilst the violin was being tuned, as it was followed by a step dance and song which fairly convulsed the house with laughter ; duet, piano and violin, De Beriot, Miss Wainwright and Mr Steward, ployed in excellent style ; song, Come Birdie Come, Miss Hirst, sung with much taste and -vociferously applauded ;' song, Sailing, Mr C. MeLtyf&r,? >v$U rendered ; glee, Blue Bells ot<.Bcofcland, Company. This brought the first portion of the programme to a' close. The faice,,Ebenezer's First Visit to New York, followed after an interval of ten minutes. In the farce

the various diameters were well sustained throughout, tho acting of Mr J. Emmett, as Ebenozer, being irresistibly comic. After the National Anthem had been sung, the Chairman returned thanks to all who had assisted in the evening's entertainment, and announced that a valedictory soiree and concert, in connection with the approaching departure from Waiorongomai of Mr M. Lovell, would take place in the Waiorongomai Public Hall on next Monday evening. Dancing was soon afterwards commenced, and kept up with spirit till 2 a.m , Mr H. Mace, as M.C, giving general satisfaction. The seating accommodation of the Hal! requires 1 attention, and it is to be hoped the Hall I Committee will, as early as possible, provide additional chairs, or seats of some kind, as many of those present during the entertainment had to stand.
