TAKAPUNA BARRACKS. TITE BARNACLE'S OPINION. Wellington, May 16.
The Defence Department absolutely deny that there 13 any foundation lor the statements as to the bad condition of the banacks at Forb Takapuna, Auckland. They say the excellenceotbheacconunod.ition afforded to the men elicited the greatest com-jaenda-tion from the officeis of the naval squadion, and that the real meaning ot the complaints is that the men want to be removed from the barracks and given qnui'ieis in a large house on the grounds now in the occupation of the officers, a thing which the Da partmenb do not intend to permit.
