Auckland, May 1. VuvrKKDAYafternoonbhe shareholdei - s in the jYlafca Gold Mining Company (Limited) held their first annual meeting at Mr F. A. While's ofiice, Queen-street. Mr J. Friar Clarke presided. The report of the directors was read as follows : — "In compliance with the Company's Articles ot Association your directors have much pleasure in presenting the balance - sheet and mine manager's report for the past twelvo months. Fiom these you will see what work has been done during this period, and we trust thesame will sufticientlyexplain the working of the Company. Youx directors regret not having been able to meet you with a more satisfactory balance-sheet, but that has been solely on account of not having been able to get the stuff crushed. At this meeting the whole of the dh'ectors retire, but Messrs J. F. Clarke, T. Melrose, James Macky, M. McMahon, and Peter Hansen, being eligible, offer themselves for re-election. — For the directors, J. Friar Clarke, Chairman," The mine manager's report detailed the work clone in tho mine during the year, and stated that the prospects of the mine were fair. The balance-sheet showed that the expenditure for the past year had been £530 6s 4d, and the receipts for gold, &c, £49 18s 6d. There is still a good quantity of picked stone on hand awaiting treatment, which has not hitherto been done, owing to jbhe scarcity of wator. The reports and balance-sheet were adopted, and Messrs J. F. Clarko, P. C. Hansen, T. Melrose, J. Mackay, and W. Bailey were elected directors. Mr K. G. Macky was appointed auditor for the ensuing year.
