Thames, April 27. Caledont yn. — Mine manager leports fchafc about 9 feeb of the cross reef at No. 1 level has been broken down to day. 1c is a tine body of stone about 7> feet thick with mineral veins running through it, but no gold ha& been seen so far. In the intermediate levels also the reef has been broken down; it is a little smaller being now 2 feet thick in the face, carrying good mineral and a few colours of gold. S vxox. — The reef in No. 5 level has been broken down in the seaward duve close up to the bottom of the winze, and stripping is now progressing. The reef looks well and shows good mineral, and gold is freely seen. In the hillward drive colours of gold are seen in the stringers between the two reefs. Colours of gold were also seen in No. 2 reof yesterday when breaking down in bhe drive near the break. It is probable that the number of stampers employed will be increased by a further fifteen or twenty head. The battery was illuminated by the new electric light last evening for three hours. Norfolk G. M. Com pany. — Twelve tenders were recived yesterday tor driving 100 ft, ranging from 3s to 7s lid per toot. Atender at the former price was accepted. Thames Prospecting Company. — Tenders are being invited for sinking a shafb 100 feet, the site for which has been selected up the gully above the Waiokaraka reservoir. Royal Oak (Coromandel).— Since my last report a large portion of the reef has been l broken down, from which there has been about forty pounds of picked stone obtained. The reef continues large, coarse-looking, stone, showing a band of minei'al following the run down. From what was broken down of the reef to-day there was about six pounds of picked stone got, leaving gojd . showing in the face going down.
