Thb animal meeting of householders in this di.-tri<t was hold on Tuesday evening in the schoolroom. Theie were about twenty persons present, Mr James Munro was voted to the chair. The Seciotiry of the outgoing committee, Mr Beeson, read the annual report, which was adopted ; also the balance sheet, wHch showed a credit balance of £(j. A circular was read from (lie B'>;inl of Edu~ cation, Auckland, relative t ( > ih« j compulsory teaching of tempeiance in public schools, and inspecting which the householders at the nnnu-d meeting were to detetmine. On being put to the meeting it was carried by a small majoiity that temperance be taught in the public schools. The election of the new committee was then proceeded with, and (he followin • candidates were nominated: Messrs 'W. 8. Collin?, J. W. Graham, M. Lovell, M. BashivilU 1 , Jas. Mnnro, A. Wallace, Jas. Orr, F. Booth, N. Basket t, and G. Beeson. The Chair-* man being a candidate then retired from the chair, and Mr McLiver was appointed returning officer, with Messrs C. McLiver and G Taylor as scrutineers . The result of the polling was that. Messrs. Basket!, Beeson, Munro, Orr, Graham, Wallace, and Baskiville were (hclered duty elected. Messrs Collins and Baskiville were ties, the returning officer giving his easting vote in the latter' s favour, A vote of thanks to the outgoing committee brought the meeting to a close. The newly appointed committee met immediately afterward?, and appointed Mr Ba-kett chairman, ami Mr Beeson Seciet.iry and Treasurer Messrs Beeson and Baskiville wereauthorised to s'g.i eheqn< s. SR'AFTESBDRY. The only particulars yet to liand with respect to this place is that the following Committee wore elected, without a contest : — Messrs W. P. Gr.itfe T'town, D % Cr;ii-4, E. Y. Cox, S. Davcy, J. Squi.r '11, M. Bcinio'-c, and W. Fauldor. R[r Cox was elected Ch.iii in;m PAEIJO\. F, Mitchell, F. Lipsey, E. Edwards, and CS. F..rme.r. Mr ! ipsey waselected Chairman, Mr Edwards, Secretary.. The Chairm in, Secietaiy, and Mr J. M t ('•oote were authorised to sign cheque^. It was lesolved that Committee meet at 4 p.m. on the first Monday in each month, in the School house. WAITIOU. The election at Wailiou resulted in the following Committee being returned :—: — Messrs Thos. Rowo, Win. Abbey, Hugh Rosp, E. Voysey, C Collins, R. Parr, and A, Gabolinscy. Mr Rowe was appointed Chairman, and Mr Voysey, Secretary and! Treasurer.
