Messrs Hcxter and Nol\x's Weekly Report.—Horse feed, seeds, giain' The demand for oats has continued brisk, and good oaten chaff has been in better request, but owing to continued dry weather seeds and manure have been slow of sale. We quote Feed oats, 2s 9d to 3d per bushel; Tartarian, 2s 4d to 2s lOd ; oaten chaff. £2 10s to £3 10s per ton ; last year's ryegrass. 2s 4d to 3s 3d per bushel ; new seeds, 3s 6d to 5s 6d per bushel ; cocksfoot. 5s to bs per bushel. Wool, hides, and skins: Limited quantities were brought forward at the Durham Yards on Tuesday. Competition was s od. No very heavy ox hides were pitched. Cattle : A good many dairy cows were brought forward and found purchasers at an advance on the previous week's values. There has been little doing in stores; fat beasts hare come forwnid in short numbers, and prices had an upward tendency. There was a good muster of dairy stock at Newmarket, and but a short one of both store and fat beasts. Dairy cows reach £6 17s 6d, but inferior animals were relatively lower. Messrs Arthur and Buddles Weekly Repo<t.—Business has been somewhat interfered with this week by Friday bemir a holiday. The marnet day had to be held on Thursday, so there have only be^n two produce and fruit sales. Se\ en sales by auction have been held, and the whole of them have been well attended, and a good business done. Produce <>£ all kinds has moved oft' freely at late prices, and every prospect of a continuance. Good fresh and corned butter is wanted in larger quantity than to itand, also fresh eggs. Well-cured bacon and hams are m demand beyond the supp y. Holders ot potatoes and onions should not hold back; there is a good market at fair prices, and there is a greater indication of prices being lower than higher : Southern ones are coming forward, ond Sydney prices are lower. Fruit has again come to hand in large quantity, no improvement in prices; a shipment of apples to oider has been sent to Sydney— we hope this may lead to further business We have taken the utmost care in selecting this shiDinent, sending: several kinds, and now anxiously await news of arrival and report from buyer, which we will make known. Monday : There vas a &a'e at the mart of a large number of unredeemed pledges— gold and silver watches, jewellery, clocks, books, tools, saddles, sewing machines, clothing, boots, etc., from Mr J. Levy, pawnbroker, London Loan Office. Victoria-street and Newton. There was a crowded attendance throughout the sale, ■which continu*'! uninterrupted for six hours, and first-class prices were obtained. Monday: Sale of stock of English and colonial made boots and shoes at the shop o f Mr J. Callnan, Upper Queen-street. There was a fair attendance, brisk competition, and all sold at a cry satisfactory prices. Tuesday: The sale of properties, stores, steamers, barges, etc., belonging to the Waikato Coal and Shipping Co. (Ltd.), sold by order of the liquidators, drew together a large number of poisons. The mills did not meet with buyers, and they are in the market at very low pt ices. The steamer Ranginri was ■withdrawn. The Lilie was passed for higher price, also the township of Huntly. The steamer Delta was sold, all the barges and punts, steam pngine, all the landing stores (except the one at Hamilton), the 106 acres at Taupiri, and two allotments in the township of Bangirhi. Tuesday Sale of poultry, produce, fruit, etc., at the mart: A fair amount of business was done. Tuesday. Sale ot household furniture and effects at tne residence of Mrs Hume. Carlton Road. There was a large attendance of buyers, and good prices were realised, Wednesday : A sale of household furniture and effects at mart. There was a good attendance, fair competition, and a large quantity ot goods changed hands at satisfactory prices. Thursday The market day sale of poultry, produce, fruit, etc., was held (on account of Good Friday). The change of the day of sale had an injurious effect on the sale. I'her was a good of poultry. At the horse sale on Friday horse stock were offered in full numbers, good animals brought from £9 to tls each, a spring cart £13; harness £5 2s 6d. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday prices for ox hides ranged from 4d to 4£d ; cowhides, 2[d to 2jd the lb; tallow, 12s to 17s the cwt ; pelts, from lOd ; skins, Is 3d to 4s 3d each ; wool, 5Jd to bid the lb. A t the country cattle sales held respectively at Pokeno and Druvj cattle were in usual numbers, and met a steady demnnd at late values; few dairy cows were yarded. At Remuera on Thursday dairy cattle were in request, those at calvins: vanned from £4 12s 6d to t7 10s ; store cattle dull ot sale ; fat cattle firm, lightweights better worth, 15h the 1001b was the ruling value. Sheep in moderate numbers, kept their values, and tat lambs were better worth ; '-alves, scarce, and sold at extreme vahies ; pigs, plentiful, kept their values; wethers ranged from 9s to 13s ; ewes, 7s to 12s ; steers, £4 to £7 2s 6d ; cows, £2 10s to to 12b 6d each. London, April 17. Good combing wool commands prices at 10 per cent, above thoae obtained at the February sales. Finest qualities have ad* auced as much as 12} per cent. Up to date, 173,000 bales have been catalogued and 4,700 withdrawn. The sugar market is greatly excited, owing to the burst-up of the great American " trust" formed last year. London, April 18. The Bank rate of discount is 2k per cent Copper is £37. New Zealand frozen mutton is unchanged. Beet hindquarters, 4UI: fore-quarters, 3,' cl to 4cl New Zealand butter, by the Tainui and Kaikoura, realised 695. The cheese shipped bj the latter brought a6s to 525. Lawrence's creditors have accepted 10s in the £. America takes 4,000 bales of wool tit the present auctions. The \ isible supply of sugar is estimated to be 350,000 tons below last year.
