LEVANTING DEBTORS.

An important Bill was read the second time in the New South Wales Legislative Council the other [night, on the motion of the Attorney-General. It is a measure to establish' reciprocity between the various colonies in regard to judgments obtained in. Courts other than the Supreme Court. At present, as Mr Simpson explained, a man who had incurred a debt in one of the adjoining colonies h&d merely to cross the border into New South Wales to escape from his liability ; but) the proposed Bill would enable a -creditor to have his judgment entered upin the local court of, the district in which the debtor resided, and execution could then be issued against him. As Mr O'Connor tersely put it, the, measure would remove the imaginary barrier behind which the dishonest debtor sought refuge from his creditor.
