MhM'Millax, New South Wales Treasurer, showed that the deficiency as shown for the year 1887 was £525,000. Then there were arrears of rents paid in during that year, £436,000 ; railway receipts, which were improperly paid in to that year's account, £27,400;andrefundstosquatters, £159,000— makinganeb deficiency attheend of the year of £947,000. But in the year 1883 the colony lived within its income, and at the end ot the year had £51,000 to the {rood. The expenditure for 1889 he calculated at £8,876,000, to which was to be added the debit balance of £37,000, making a total expenditure of £8,913,000. He estimated the total l-evenue at £8,938,000, which gave him an estimated credit balance for the year of £25,000.
