Champion G-. and S, Mines, Tui : There is little fresh to report with respect to mining operations in this district. In connection with the Champion G. and S. Mines, contracts No. 1, 2, and S, have all been completed. Contracts 4( Dillon and party, for driving 250 feet on the line of reef). 5 (Petory and party, for sinking winze 105 feet to connect with No. 6 contract), imd G (Emerson and party, to drive 75 feet on the line of reef, from underneath the No. 5 winze), arc all progressing satisfactorily. The contractors for erecting trestles, etc., for the aerial tramway are making satisfactory progress with the work. The kauri timber is beinghanled up to where required by means of bullocks. One large trestle has already been erected on the fern spur, about half way up the lino of tramway. Twenty tons of ore is being bagged from that now being broken out, and will be fonv.mled to the directors in London. This ore is now being sleighed down to th« flat by Mr Deverill, carter, who has entered into a contract for delivering this ore at the Te Aroha railway station. Seven tenders were yester lay received at the T: A. and 0. News office for the contract for driving 150 feet on the reef, No. 1 cross-cut. None of the tenders were opened hero, but all forwarded on ; to Auckland in accordance with instructions left by the Secretary. Admiral Fairfax : In thisminethecontractorsfor sinking the winze have now got down adistauce of about 80 feet, and are j progressing favourably with the work in hand.
