SAN FIMWCKSCO MAIL SERVICE.
At a meeting, of the, Chamber pf Commerce last. Wednesday, correspondence upon the San Francisco mail service was received from the Sydney Chamber, and from Mv J, 1 Creightoa,' the 'representative of the Oceanic Steamship Company of California, who is now in New South Wales. The Sydney Chamber did not pledge itself to support any particular service, but affirmed the desirability commercially of the continuance of the San Francisco service. A resolution was unanimously adopted expressing the opinion, that in view of the early termination of the existing mail arrangement, and of its growing importance to mercantile interests, as well as those of the present contracting colonies, arrangements be made at the earliest opportunity for securing a continuance of regular communication by either a monthly or a fortnightly service on fche most favourable term-; and conditions practicable, in order that such interchange may be maintained and developed, and that it, is desirable that this Chamber co-operate with the Chambers of Commerce of New South Wales and New Zealand in an endeavour to bring about by united effort the adoption of such a scheme as will be acceptable to, and meet the varying requirements of, the diiTcient colonies. copy of the reselution will be forwarded to cheSydney Chamber.
