THE AMERICAN WARSHIPS.
The American fleet at Samoa- included H M.s. 'Trenton, "flagship, in charge of .Rear-Admhal L. A. Kimberly, and there were associated with him Lieut, ti. G. Ribtenhouse (Flag Lieut.) and Lieut. G. A. Mernam (Secretary). The following is a list of the officers of the American warships as near as they can be obtained : — H.M.S. Trenton (flagship) 2,300 tons, 10 gun& : Capt , X H. Farquhar ; Lieut, commanding, H. W. Lyon ; Lietit. R.M., G. Brown ; Lieuts, Samuel Graham ; L. L. Reamey ; Lieut (junior grade), Allen ; Ensign, Blandin ; Naval cadets, C. S. Cochrane, B. W. Wells, junior, C. Churchill, L. C. Bertolette, G. H. Burrage, L. W. Logan, A. F. Long, W. S. Clarke ; Medical Inspector, Chas. H. White; Past As&i&cant Surgeon, Northfleet ; Assistant Surg-eon, T\ hite ; Pay Inspector, Clarke;' Chief Engineer, Kiersted; Past Assistant Engineers, Mattie and R. W. Gait ; Chaplin, J. R. Matthews ; Captain of Marines, P. W. Huntington; Second Lieutenant of Marines, H. K. White. H.M.s. Vandalia, 2,300 tons, 10 guns, Captain C. M. Schumacher. Lieuts. :J. W Carlin, J. C. Wilson, A. E.
