CORRESPONDENCE. [Under no circumstances is the Editor responsible for matter contained in correspondence.] MORRINSVILLE SCHOOL COMMITTEE. THE CHAIRMAN REPLIES. [To the Editor.]

Sir, — After reading " our own correspondent's " letter, in answer to one written by me as published in your issue of Saturday last, I wish to state that I still maintain all that I wrote. lam not actuated by any motives of jealousy ; in fact' I don't know what could make anyone jealous in the matter of a children's treat. I have n» desire to go on writing on the subject ; I wish to do my duty fairly and impartially I am happy to say that I am upheld in my duty by the majority of the Committee as well as the householders who take an impartial view of the case. lam piepared if called upon by a majority of the Committee, to Jefend any action that I may have taken in the matter, and meet " our own correspondent" or any that he may bring forward to refute any statements madein my letter. Asfoi other part 3 of yourcorrcspondent's letter, for instance where ho st ites chat lam not worthy to unlacetheshoes of som< 1 of the gentlemen in tlm d 'strict : I should think I had come very low indeed if I had to perform such an office for " our own correspondent lam soiry to trouble you, Mr E'litor, with this letter, but*|in jn,^tice to others as well as mynelf I thought it right to refute the statements made by your own cone^pondent, which aie oilcu'ated to do more harm than £ood, arrl which creates 1 ad feeling where it sliou'd not e.xit-t. As tc* any other rep'i-s your correspondent may publish I s'mll treat them with contempt, as I think such rubbish Hhould never appe.tr in pi int. Your ooi respondent's letter is a piece of dirly wo:k from beginning to end, the more he stirs diity water the worse mess he makes of it. I am, etc., Geo. Smith, Chairmm Morrinnvi!le School Committee^ MorriuHville, March 30th. 188' J.
