MORRINSVILLE BAND OF HOPE SOCIETY.
The: monthly meeting of the Morrinsville Band of Hope was held in the School room on Saturday evening last. There was a large attendance, the room being completely filled. The chair was occupied by Mr IT. Buttle, of Annandale, who opened the meeting in an appropriate manner. The first part of the programme consisted of songs, readings, and recitations, given by various members and friends of the Society. Mr W. A. Murray also delighted the audience by his skilful rendering of a number of Irish and Scottish airs on the violin. The second part of the programme consisted of a comical entertainment given by eight persons, dressed in character ns negroes, whyjh set the hoase in roars of laughter and sent everyone home in good spirits. Special praise is duo to Mr D. Whitburn and MrF. Horrell for the time and trouble they had given in getting up an evening's amusement which pleased everybody. The following programme was gone through : — Glee, by the choir ; recitation, " Suspicious Cock and Hen," Master Geo. Slndc ; song, Mr F. Horrell ; recitation. " Becalmed," Miss Strange ; duet, Mrs Snoll and Miss Horrell ; reading, " The Upsetting Sin," Mrs H. Buttle ; song with chorus," The Gilded Palace,'* Mr Bryant ; recitation, Master R. Bryant ; song, Mrs Snell ; rpcitation, il A Drive for Life," Master H. Bryant ; song, » Good Night," MrD. Whitburn ; <y\<>9, by the choir ; recitation. Master W. Bryant ; reading, Mr H. Gant ; violin solo's Mr W. A. Murray ; entertainment by Negro Minstrels. — Communicated.
