At the Police Court to-rlay, Frederick Taylor, alias Cowley, alias Clink, was committed for trial on a charge of attempting- rape on Charlotte Smith. This was a case in which the girl was decoyed hy an advertisement for a lady help to a settler at Lucas Creek, The evidence showed thut the prisoner had deluded the girl hy a statement that a bugjyy would meet them at Itheiheud, and had kept her out all ni»ht. She, however, successfully resisted his attempted assault upon her.
