Tt appears that the boy«, in imitation of their elders, were getting up a race meeting which was to have come ofl: on Easter Monday, and had been training their horses for the event for some time past. I may add that the boys have appropriated the money collected for their races (some £3 or £4), for the purpose of erecting ft h-adstone at the grave aE their late comrade. The Ld was universally liked,, and much sympathy is felt for hi i parents, [ie had only recently insured his life for £100, The holders of the 50 acre agricultural sections within the gold field have received: formal notice that their sections will not be j» ranted free of ca-t as required, but that the sum of: 5s per acre will be charged, for the fee simple, and further, that only those who owe no arrears oH rent will beallowed to buy. At Waihi there are at present on!y four men on the W.iihi G.M. Co.'s works, but additions are to be immediately made to the plant, and a number ot hands will shordy be put on.
