TE AROHA.

Champion Gr. and S. Mines, Tui: — Work is being pushed ahead on all five contracts now under weigh (particulars respecting which have already been published in these columns). C. Gordon, completed No. 2 contract a few days since. The contractors, Forsman and McPike, for bush falling and clearing the line for the aerial tramway, have almost completed their work. These contractors have certainly got through an astonishing amount of work in a veiy short space of time, and in a most creditable manner. Much of the clearing, owing to the precipitous nature of the country, very difficult to deal with. The contractors will probably finish about Monday or Tuesday next. Mr Johnson, engineer and contractor for the erection of the aerial tramway, has decided to connect No 4 drive with the main line, by means of a short aerial tram ; having found ifc inadvisable to attempt laying a gionnd tram at this point, owing to the very broken precipitous country. We understand the directois have declined to sanction the formal transfer of the contract for erecting the trestles, etc., from Mr Fairweather (whose tender was accepted), to Mr Howland, of Waiorongomai, but Mi Rowland has ananged privately with Mr Fairweather to carry out the work for him. Golden Crown : The following tenders were received on Wednesday last for driving 150 feet. Per font (necessary timbering included) : E. Kneebone and Co., LI 15s : R.
