WAIHI G. AND S. MINING CO. THAMES, Last Night.

It was currently reported in town today that work had been suspended in connection with the Waihi Gr. and S. M. Co., at Waihi, and that the plant and mine had to-day been " shot down." Mr Thos. Russell was here this afternoon, but could not give any information on the subject. Since then a miner who has arrived from Waihi informs me that a number of hands have been discharged, and that the plant has not been working as satisfactorily as could be desired, but so far as he is aware work has not been altogether suspended.
