MINING NEWS. Auckland, February 16.

QUAYLE G.M. COMPANY. A cablegram received from London yesterday afternoon stated that the Quayle licensed holding, situated at; Peel's Creek, Marototo, had been successfully floated into a company in London, and registered with a capital of £120,000. The ground comprised within this area consists of what was originally known as the Arizona, Sydney and Tawa holdings, the whole aggregating 14 acres and 8 perches, which was purchased by Mr Quayle during hi& visit to Thames some months ago. The area ha" been floated i»»to a company on the engineering report and plans of Mr J. M. McLaren, late Government Mining Inspector. Assays of the ore, which is of a free milling nature, were made by Mr J. A. Pond, Government Analyst, of Auckland, and proved very satisfactory.

QUAYLE G.M. COMPANY. Later. — In the previous telegram it is stated that the Qua.ylo Company was floated upon the report and plans of Mr J. M. McLaren. This information was given by that gentleman himself, but Mr H, Percy Smith, surveyor, states that he did all the engineering work and also the plans. Under these circumstances it is difficult to give honour to whom honour is due. Sapon. — From the Survey made, it is found that 25 feet still lemains to be driven to pick up the reef beyond break at No. 5 level. The country is verj tight, and it will be a fortnight before the reef is te hand.
