William Curnow and Edward Hoskii> were charged with provoking a bieach of the peace by fighting in the street at Waiorongomni on Sunday morning last. Curnow pleaded guilty and Hoskin not guilty. The fo lowing witnesses vrere examined :—.: — . D. McL. Wallace, sworn, stated :. X am a blacksmith residing at Waioroogor mai, a.nd kuow the defendants.. On , Sunday last abont 10 a.m., Cnrnow and ' his wife were fighting, as usual, ami Hoskin went up to Curnow's fence), when he (Curnow) asked Hoskin ircha.t did he want to come there and interfere for, and then made a. blow a,, Hoskin, a-nd struck him over the eye, Hoskin tried to return the blow but missed, when, Curnow ran out of his yard and knocked Hoskin down and kicked him.
