Atf important mooting was held thi& morn, ing at the Auckland Railway Station between the Hon. Mr Mitchelson, Nafcivo Minister,and. loading chiefs of Uio Ngatimahuta (Tawhiao'd tribo) in relation to Uio native reserves at Mangcie formerly granted to King Potatau and subsequently coniiscated. Each successive Government has held over settlement of the reserves, awaiting' the acceptance by Tawhiao of the terms ottered him. Theio aio natives of Tawhiao's Iribo who have an undoubted claim upon theso lands, and fcho Native Minister has determined that theio should not be any furthor dolay to set apart suitablo reservoa for thoso people ; &uch reserves to be inalienable and tor the occupation of persons of the Ngaiimalmta tribo only, who may be found, on iuquirj', to bo equitably entitled to participate. Tho principal spokosman for tho natives vas Patara To Tuhi, who represented that thoie were a number ot natives pi o pa red to occupy these lands, some of whom would occupy immediately. Ilomadc an uigent application to Mr Mitchelson that some of tho land should be set apart for the immediate cultivation. Mr Mitchelson agreed to this request, and instructed Air Low is, Undor-Secieravy Native Aflaiis, to go out co Mangere on Monday and select a suitablo piece of land. A gi anddaughber and heir of Tamati Ngapoio, who was present, ropiescntod her claims to fcho land occupied by her grandlathcr and ab picscnb under lcaso to Mr CJooseman. She urged that her grandfather had oxclusivo claims upon this land, and that, ho having bequeathed it to her by will, she was alone entitled to participate in the benefits derived theiefrom. As it was undci stood that this formed a portion of the land awarded to To Whciowhero and allocated by him to Tamati Ngaporo, the Native Minister thought that tho natives ought to have a meeting amongst them&elvcs to discuss tho subject and let him know tho result. Tho natives agreed to adopt tills course, and the interview terminated.
