WAIKATO DISTRICT HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held at Hamilton on Wednesday last. Present : Messrs Primrose (chairman), Yon Stunner, Sandes, Brunskill, Chepniell,, Hunter and Seddon. Minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence : An account of £36 18s was received from the Thames Charitable Aid Board for the maintenance of a boy named Thompson in the Thames Orphanage. The reason of the delay in sending this account was caused mainly by the change of secretary. The Secretary said that the account was too much as he held a receipt for a portion of the amount. Mr Chepmell reported with reference to a bill for over LlOO, which had been received from the Thames Board, for the maintenance of children named Williams, that their father, | Joseph Williams, left Te Aroha and deserted his wife (who was not the mjther of these children) about four or five years ago. Mrs Williams then deserted the children also, and went to live at Waiorongomai. Williams he ascertained, had been working at the Dock in Auckland, some two years after he left Te Aroha. The Secretary was instructed to ascertain when the children were committed to the Home, and from what place, and, if possible, also the date of the departure of the father from the district. The Chairman said it was not the proper thing for the Thames Board to administer relief for this district for nearly two years without rendering an account.
