Mr W. OBrien has been sent fco Dublin. He states fchab after escaping from Court at Cavrick he drove ninety miles to Wexford, from whence he proceeded in a collier to Porfchawl, county Glamorgan, thence to the residence of a priest at Bridgend. Fiom Bridgend he travelled by train to Manchester, to attend a meeting convened by Mr Jacob Bright. On making his appearance on the platform he was received with great enthusiasm. Mr OBrien boasted that ho passed through four counties swarming with police, and yet had not been betrayed. He claimed the sanctuary of England ns a political refugee. The arrest was made in the ante room of the hall, and the prisoner was escorted to gaol by two hundred police, who were followed by several thousand people. While at the meeting, Mr OBrien passed through a wild scene of congratulations. London, January 31. Me OBrien is imprisoned in Clonmel Gaol, County Tipperary. London, January 31. Thomas O'Connor, the informer, who gave evidence before the Parnell Commission has recanted, and now declares that his evidence was wholly fictitious. London, January 31. On reaching Clonmel Gaol Mr W. OBrien declined to remove his ordinary clothes and wear prison dress. He was then forcibly stripped and shaved. London, February J . Mr OBrien made a desperate resistance to the removal of his clothes, which were torn to shreads. In his struggle OBrien became very exhausted and faintad. Thomas Condon and John O'Connor, members for Tipperary East and South respectively, have been sentenced to ; four months' imprisonment each for j offences against the Crimes Act. ' Father McFadden, who was sum- 1 moned under the Crimes Act and failed to appear at Court, has not yet been ! arrested. Washington, February 1. It is probable that the Senate will reject the English extradition proposals as a protest against the Irish Political Crimes Act.
