Thames, Friday. The Pjrakawai licensed holding, near Whangamata (twenty acres), which was recently forfeited for non-working, was yesterday sold by auction by Warden Northcroft for £G. Mr S 0. Mackay, of Auckland, was the purchaser. At the Warden's Court yesterday the following applications were granted : — h\ Chillis, Mariposa licensed holding, Waitekauri ; J. 13ro\vn, exchange of title for a water -race at Tararn ; J. Ryan, protection to work the Ostrich holding at Wniomo, with two men ; E. K. Cooper, tunnel, Moanat.iiii cieek ; J. C. Williams, amalgamation of license. The following plaints lain by the Mining Inspector, for non-woi king, were dealt with as follows : J. McCombie, Riverinn, Karangahake, adjourned until 21<«t February; and A. L. WiUon, Just-in-Time, Nos. 1,2, and 3, Whanganjata, forfeited.* The Cambria Co.'s mine is on the whole looking fail ly well. When breaking down the leader in the winze at No. 3 level on Wednesday a parcel of JSlb^of excellent picked stone, worth Inz gold pei Ib, was obtained, and colours of gold weie l i eel y seen in the uener.il dire.
