VILLAGE SETTLEMENT. OMAHA.

Auckland, January 16. Tub Hon. Mr Richardson has been visiting a number of the village settlements North of Auckland, accounts of which hav° appeared in the Star, showing that the Hon. Minister has had an eye-opener and a knock - down to some of his preconceived prejudices against Mr Ballance's &chome. Whether the experience gained during hi& Northern tour has converted him from an opponent to an advocate of village settlements lor placing the people on the land remains to be seen. The Hon. Minister of Lands, in his Northern tour, did not visit the Omaha settlement. The public are much interested in knowing how these new settlers are getting on. A representative from the Staii has just visited the neighbourhood, and from his notes we are able to give some interesting particulars of the Omaha village settlers.
