[Prom our own Correspondent.] The annual meeting of the Church of England parishioners resident here, took | pkce on Wednesday evening, in the Public Flail, Rev James Marshall in the chair* The following were present : Messrs N. Baskets. A. A. Wallace, W. F. Hunt, M. Lovell, S. T. Smardon, G. R, Beegon, and C. II A. Tonjare. The meeting opened with prayer, after which Mr Hunt read the balance sheet, and gave an account oF the proceedings generally for the past five quarters. The balance sheet showed receipts for the five quarters £47 4s 2d, made up as follows : Offertories, £81 IGs 5d ; subscriptions, £6 Is ; balance from concert proceeds, £0 Gs 9d. The expenditure was as follow? : Ministers salary, £41 15s ; rent of Public Hall, £5 9s ; cish in hand, 2d. Mr Hunt remarked that although the balance was small, still it was satisfactory to find it was on the right side, which lemarlc was endorsed by those present. Regarding" the organ repair?, Mr Hunt explained that he had been authorised on behalf of the Church to pay their quota towards their cost of repairs, hut he. had quite overlooked the matter. Resolved, that the amount be paid to Mr Lovell as soon as sufficient funds are in hand. The election of officers for the year was then proceeded with. The Chairman appointed Mr Hunt as Ministers Church Warden; and it was pioposed by MrliOvell seconded by Mr Smardon and carried, that Mr Basketfc, be appointed Peoples Church Warden. The following were appointed as vestrymen . Messrs \. A. Wallace, M. Lovell, G. R. Beeson, Chas. H. A. Tonge, W. F. Hunt, and |N. Baskett j four to form a quorum. Resolved that meetings of the vostry be held quarterly. Mi 1 Hunt proposed a hearty vote of 1 hunks to the ladies, who were instrumental in carrying out the late concert so successfully. This was seconded by the Rev Mr Marshall, who in a neat little speech, spoke in glowing terms of the energy and zeal displayed by the ladies in connection with the carrying out of the late concert. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Lovell for his kindness in ringing the school bell for church services. A vote of thanks to the chair brought the meeting ]to a close. General News: — Everything at the battery is being pushed ahead with vigour. Connections are now being maile. between the stampers and Frue concentrators. The driving pally is now in position on the intermediate shaft, for wot king 1 the stonebreakers. The' bridge to connect one of the Company's drives, with the old Eureka hopper is now completed, and, considering the precipitous place over which it is constructed, certainly reflects credit on Mr Soutlv^y, who carried out the work.
