We .understand, Hoover," ibatf Mr McGruer has not" severed his c'on-i heotfon wjthHhe^ Co., but /continues Jtf their employe .Captain' Coward has had a large and v Varied experience in mining permits in hqoji India >nj South America whe/p' he^has*Vreproßented Bome^ar^e English syndicates ; he 'was also actively engaged in raining in Corawall in hte youth. During a short residence at Coromamlel aome years ago he proved himself a thoroughly efficient manager. The plant to arrive by the Tainui .consists, of one Lamberton's • (Glasgoy)" fttrine breaker, and. two Lamberton's Grinding Mills (oapable of grinding .thirty tons of- ore per day). By the arrangements entered into by the Company with the Casaol's Gold Extraction Company, JJimited agreataayin^ will be effected with respect to the erection of machinery by the Grown Co,, as all they I will have to do is to provide the necessary machinery and grind their ore, which they will then hand over to the Cassel's Co. for treatment, who guarantee to extract ,not less that},- 7§ p,sr ceijfc of vthe assay value of the ofe, aji a cost of about thirty | shillings per ton, We understand that by the arrangements' Entered into, the Oassel's Co*, 1 in addition to the price paid them per ton for treating Ciown ore, are also to receive as a bonus anything saved over 85 per cent ; the Crown Co., however, reserving the right to determine this part of the agreement, should they' deem it at any time desirable to do so. The Crown mine is looking well just now, and 'stone of very good quality is beingf obtained from the different drives j and nice kindly stone, showinggold pretty freely is'jc^ming from the winze, ' " '• !'! ' ' The Lamberton Grinding Mill : Respecting this mil!, about to be in troll uced to this district by the Crown Co., Karangahake, the following particulars extracted from a circular issued by the makers, will be read with interest :—: — (*( * In this Mill the grinding is done by a group of rolling balls, which are driven round a circular cup-shaped track by a heavy rotating disc, the preat weight of which, bearing ,on the top of the balls, drives thorn round by frictitional contact. In addition, there is the centrifugal force of the bulls as they revolve round the track, all combining to form an extremely simple and efficient Pulverizer The action being purely rolling contact', insures that the work is done with the I least possible power, and the minimum of tear and wear. What wenr there is, occurs in the balls, track, and face of driving disc, anil these are made of the hardest mixture of steel and iron chilled, so that they are extremely durable. These parts are only castings, and having no machine or finishing work on i them, they can he renewed at a nominal cost. This Mill will run constantly for i months, pro hieing the same grist of fineness, without any. attention except keeping hopper full of material. It is self-feeding and* self-discharging, and ! will grind to any degree of fineness by simply regulating the amount of feed. For gold quarts crushing it work's equally well on the wet process, the discharge being then taken through screens fixed on tho sidos of casing/ The total weight of the machine is stateJ to be five tons, prjee £120,
