DETAILS OF THE STOCKTON MATCH (played at Stockton, Monday, November 5, 1888.)

won the toss, aud the Maoris kicked off against the wind. Pease got the ball and a free kick resulted for the visitors. iSJcCausland just missed scoring. By good combined play, the home team gradually worked the ball down to the visitors' territory, where Stockton obtained a minor. Play continued very even until jupL before half-time, when Stockton secured a try, but failed to convert. Up to this the home • team had much the best of a moderately i fast game. On resuming, however, the play became much faster, and the Maoris soon asserted their superiority. Gage, immediately after the resumption, gained a minor, and directly after F. Warbrick secured another. Two more minors wero registered, and just befoie the whistle sounded McCausland kicked two goal? in succession.
