NEW YEAR'S DAY.

Aiiii hail to thco, Zealandia, This ft si day of tho year ; Wo greot, thoe, land of promise As the home of f?i£ts most dear. We bid theo rise, disperse tho clouds That hover round thy shores, Be brave, reveal thy glories, Unlock thy golden stores. Thy matchless clime, each varied scene Of mountains, vales and lakes, So bold, serene and beautiful, A heavenly prospect makes. Thy wonderland in Northern Isle— No art can picture such ; The snow-capped peaks in Alpine chains All show the Master's touch. Thy hills and creeks in gold abound, Thy forests teem with wealth, Thy flocks and herds are numberless, Thy people blest with health. Wo greet ye, then, bright Southern Isles; Your people should not fear. While all around thorn nature smiles To welcome in tho year.
