PIGEON AND CANARY SHOW . Auckland, Dec. 24.

It is only within a recent period that the Newton Pigeon, Canary, and Cage Bird Association has been in existence, but during that time it has done much to foster and encourage the -breeding -of a better clas 3 of birds, and the improvement of tteh c strains possessed by members. The Association is now a flourishing one, and is possessed of : very considerable vitality. The first of a series of "first feather" shows w^as held last week in "the large room ot the Pitt-street Baths. The exhibition being restricted to J>members of the Association, was not as large as it would otherwise have been, bub the various classes contained some first-class specimens of birds. Mr 0. Bartley acted as judge, and his decisions appeared to give general satisfaction. The 1 awards were" r as follows: —
