The successful contractors have started work, but the country i§ very hard. Saxon. — As mentioned in a telegram in your la«t issue, the Company has purchased the New Prince Imperial battery for £81)0, and ib is probable that an overhaul of the plant "will take place during the Christmas holidays. There is nothing new to report from the mine. New Manukau.— Colours of gold are seen in the quartz being broken out, and it ia of payable grade. Prince Imperial.— Satisfactory progress is being made with the sinking of the winze on the leader at No. 1 level to connect with the crosscut being driven at No. 2 level to meat it. The leader in the latter look* very promising, and contains a little nice mineral. ________^^_^
