DRAUGHTS ITEMS.
In reference to the proposed diaughts match town v. country, -oit^ players who ' -wish to' take part are requested to meet tonight at the Free public Library at 7.30 sharp. Messrs P. !Malone and J. Ewing, of Panmure, have written stating their willingness to take part in the proposed match on the side of the country players. Surprise is expressed that there has been no response from Thames, where there are many good players. Afc the Melbourne Centennial Draughts Congress, in the tourney for the Colonialborn Championship, Messrs Duncan and Warnock met to play the final round. In this only three games were required to be played, of which Mr Warnock won two, and the third was drawn. ' Thus', Mr Warnock was the winner of the Championship for colonial-born players, with Mr Duncan was winner of the second prize. Mr Warnock is a New Zealander by birth, but has played throughout the Congress as a representative of Queensland.
