DOUBLE EXECUTION AT BRISBANE. Horrible Death of the Malay Murderer.
A double execution took place at Brisbane Gaol a fortnight ago. Edward Duhamel, the Frenchman who murdered his paramour at Croydnn, and Sedin, the Malay murderer of three Europeans at Normanton, where he ran amuck. Duhamel was hanged first. He said he did not know whether he was guilty or not. Father Fouhy attended him find grave him a crucifix, which he ki?eed repeatedly before the bolt was drawn. Deatli wan instantaneous. Sedin was then brought out. He lead prayers from the Koran. The executioner took the book from him, but he asked to be allowed a few mote minutes for prayer. This was granted. The Malay begged not to have his turban removed, which~request was also granted. The bolt was then draw n, but the drop proved not sufficient to dislocate his neck. Sedin's body hung dangling 14 minutes until he died of strangulation.
